Our History, Our Words Series
"Our History, Our Words" presents valuable pieces of Mexican-American history through the experiences
of ordinary men and women, showing how their lives shaped and were shaped by events in history.
Through their words, anecdotes, and accounts, present generations learn about important -many times
ignored- segments of information that add a significant part to mainstream American history.

"Our History, Our Words" recovers unknown or forgotten elements of Mexican-American history that are
necessary to understand the present and project the future. Thanks to the words of these  lesser-known
yet talented and amazing authors, new tiles become part of the large mosaic of our history. Their history
and their words are indeed "
our History and our words."

The
Hispanic Institute of Social Issues is proud and honored to present this exclusive series.

As part of our educational scope, we have incorporated texts from other authors whose writings align
with our Mission and Vision, as well as strict ethical standards. These authors posses a genuine talent to
write, a valuable oral history, and a desire to document their story, so present and future generations
learn and understand the unwritten history of Mexican-Americans. Writers in this category also share HISI’
s goal to serve and educate.

Our expertise in producing our own publications placed us on a position to assist these authors with
services such as editing, graphic design, professional photography, visual art, and printing, utilizing the
most up-to-date digital technology and equipment. HISI’s infrastructure has allowed us to produce cost-
effective books without compromising the quality. Authors who have published through us are enjoying
the satisfaction of seeing their books become part of libraries throughout the Southwest and other states
in the nation. The series
"Our History, Our Words" encourages writers to contribute with their personal
history and testimony to the mainstream and official History of Arizona and the United States.

HISI books are publications created with exceptional quality printing machinery, and by using professional
and high-caliber technology in commercial printing presses. Our production staff is backed by innovative
