Stanford University Professional Publishing Course Scholarship
We are pleased to inform you that the Hispanic Institute of Social Issues has been awarded the Stanford University
Professional Publishing Course scholarship, by the Association of American Publishers Diversity Fellowship. As many
of you know, Stanford University is one of the most respected institutions in the United States.
HISI’s Community Outreach and Special Projects Production Director Yolie Hernandez has accepted to participate in
this course designed to immerse participants in cutting-edge information about today's most advanced publishing
processes—from editorial development through layout, design, production, marketing, finance, and brand
extensions. Yolie will participate in lectures, seminars, study groups, and workshops designed and led by the most
experienced and capable working professionals in U.S. publishing today.
This is a huge step for the publishing branch of the Hispanic Institute of Social Issues, Arizona, and Latinos. This
step represents our continued commitment to Arizona, a state where we have seen both a great need and the
opportunity to create nonexistent spaces for those who, through literature, want to impact our community in the
social issues arena. We thank the growing number of individuals that have entrusted their writings to HISI, as we
share these exciting news with you.
Sincerely,
Eduardo Barraza
